Organisers of last month's Bride Show Abu Dhabi have declared the event a success saying "thousands" of brides-to-be visited the exhibition, suggesting the multi-million dollar UAE wedding industry remains resilient in the face of the global downturn. A survey conducted by IIR Middle East showed that more than a third of visitors to the Abu Dhabi show (34 per cent) would be spending between dhs100,000 and dhs250,000 on their big day. The company is expecting its sister show, April's Bride Show Dubai to be even more popular. It's the largest wedding and fashion event in the UAE and last year attracted 30,000 visitors. IIR said precise figures from January's Abu Dhabi show were not available.
