BRISBANE, Dec 17 AAP - A woman who appeared in a Brisbane court on Thursday is the
fourth person charged over an alleged conspiracy to import more than $10 million of cannabis
into Australia.
Lydia Whitehouse, 53, from Papua New Guinea, was arrested on Wednesday upon her arrival
at Brisbane International Airport.
She was charged with one count of conspiracy to import a commercial quantity of a border-controlled
drug, which carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
Whitehouse appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday morning, and was granted bail.
She was the third person to face court in Brisbane this week over the alleged plan
to bring 500kg of cannabis into the country.
A fourth man also appeared in an Adelaide court earlier this week.
