Qld: Soccer and handball popular in school
A recent survey shows soccer and handball are the most popular sports played at schoolsacross Queensland.
Sport Minister TERRY MACKENROTH says the survey of more than 16,000 students showssoccer is the most popular sport at school and is among the most popular out of schoolhours too.
Mr MACKENROTH says handball wins out before class, at morning recess or at lunchtime,because of its simplicity.
But away from school, he says handball takes a backseat to sports such as swimming,soccer, cricket and netball.
The survey was carried out earlier this year as part of a government program to encouragestudents to be more active.
